LifeHub NI Charity Partnership

01 March, 2023

Hayward Hawk are very proud to announce that we have chosen LifeHub NI to be our new charity partner for 2023.

LifeHub NI provide fresh food to local people living in food poverty. They were set up in 2017 by a man called Edmund and his wife Ruth, to help fight food poverty in the local area - You would be surprised as to how many people you know who are in need of this service but would never let you know.

When Hayward Hawk first heard about the work LifeHub NI were doing, it really hit home to the team how important the charity was. With the cost of living increasing so dramatically over the last few months, there have been so many people impacted.

Deloitte recently ran a survey and the results were staggering that 3 in every 5 people have no money left at the end of the month. There are so many people now having to choose between buying dinner or turning their heating on, which nobody should ever have to do. This is where LifeHub NI comes in to help; providing fresh nutritious food to over 500 people each week, both directly and indirectly through their partner charities.

Some of our team went to see Life Hub NI in action on Saturday to meet Edmund, Ruth and some of their volunteers, all of whom are an absolute credit to the charity. Edmund is out at 4am each morning collecting food from different supermarkets and companies they have partnered with, including Marks and Spencer Forestside, Hendersons Food Group, Reubens, Slims Healthy Kitchen and Lidl, NI. The work they are doing is incredible.

On Saturday they provided a week’s worth of food for 112 adults and 179 children. Those numbers are staggering, especially when you see how many young children are going hungry. Research from Square Space shows 24% of children in NI are living in food poverty, 17% of adults and 12% of the elderly!

Nobody should ever go hungry, but at least with LifeHub NI they are helping provide people with proper nutritious healthy food.

Hayward Hawk are looking forward to working alongside LifeHub NI this year to provide practical help and also raising as much money as possible.
